Learn about Middlesex Community College phlebotomy training, registering in a technical degree program, and taking practice exams for free online. You can enter nursing with either an associates degree or BSN. As a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), you may provide patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). If you complete the phlebotomy training program, for example, there are a variety of nursing concentrations that may appeal to you such as medical lab training, the CNA program, or occupational rehabilitation. Check with the nursing department for an updated schedule of classes, registration deadlines, and a list of phlebotomy training requirements. Due to advances in medical systems, there is a growing skill-shortage of trained phlebotomists, and of qualified medical personnel in general. Please use the form above to request admissions info for Middlesex Community College.

Phlebotomists draw blood for tests, transfusions, research, or blood donations. Accredited phlebotomy training programs are available from community colleges, vocational schools, or technical schools. These programs usually take less than 1 year to complete, including classes in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and laboratory work, and lead to a phlebotomy certificate or diploma.

Further, phlebotomists must learn specific procedures on how to identify, label, and track blood samples. The National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health Career Association (NHA), the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and the American Medical Technologists (AMT) offer Phlebotomy Technician certifications. The average annual salary for trained phlebotomists was $31,630 in May 2015, and employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 25 percent over the next 10 years, much faster than average.

Health Insurance Policies

When you purchase health insurance, shop around online for premium costs, policy coverage limits, and complaint information. How much are hospitalization premiums, and is there a deductible that you must pay out of your pocket in the case of medical treatment? Is there a hospital, physician, and pharmacy network that the policy limits you to, and how large is it?

Your health insurance policy only pays for services that are medically necessary, such as hospital care, visits to your primary care doctor and specialist procedures, like emergency and urgent care, occupational therapy, pregnancy, and required surgery. It also covers lab tests and diagnostic services, like x-rays, ultrasound, and mammograms, as well as preventive and routine care, like vaccines, checkups, mental health care including therapy for autism, and some home care, such as rehabilitation after a hospital stay.
