Find info concerning Cal Tech phlebotomy training, registering for degree programs, and taking free practice exams online. You can enter nursing with either an associates degree or BSN. As a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), you may provide patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). If you complete the phlebotomy training program, for example, there are a variety of nursing concentrations that may appeal to you such as medical lab training, the CNA program, or occupational rehabilitation. Check with the nursing department for an updated schedule of classes, registration deadlines, and a list of phlebotomy training requirements. Due to advances in medical systems, there is a growing skill-shortage of trained phlebotomists, and of qualified medical personnel in general. Please use the form above to request admissions info for Cal Tech.
Phlebotomists draw blood for tests, transfusions, research, or blood donations. Accredited phlebotomy training programs are available from community colleges, vocational schools, or technical schools. These programs usually take less than 1 year to complete, including classes in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and laboratory work, and lead to a phlebotomy certificate or diploma.
Further, phlebotomists must learn specific procedures on how to identify, label, and track blood samples. The National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Health Career Association (NHA), the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and the American Medical Technologists (AMT) offer Phlebotomy Technician certifications. The average annual salary for trained phlebotomists was $31,630 in May 2015, and employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 25 percent over the next 10 years, much faster than average.

HMO Health Plan Information
Preventive care helps doctors catch health problems early, with a better chance of successful treatment. Blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol tests, cancer screenings, vaccines, and child screening may be covered without any out-of-pocket cost. It is your responsibility to understand the risks and benefits of your treatment, so educate yourself before undergoing any serious treatment plan, such as a surgical operation. Also, protect your health information by obtaining your own copy of your medical records.
Read your health plan's summary of benefits to learn what is covered and what is excluded. Health insurance only pays for care that is medically necessary, which is defined in your health insurance policy. Your insurance plan may not pay for experimental procedures or advanced medical testing, but if you have a serious illness, you can ask for an independent medical review. You do not need pre-approval for emergency care, such as admittance to the emergency room, or ambulance service from the scene of an accident.
